Brooklyn Park (Minn.) — Rasmussen College is continuing its monthly lecture series with a discussion about the design and functionality to take place on Tuesday, July 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the campus located at 8301 93rd Avenue North in Brooklyn Park.

The lecture series, which occurs on the second Tuesday of every month, is open to the community. The July discussion is sponsored by the Rasmussen College School of Technology and Design.

"The theme for the July discussion is design versus functionality." Director of the School of Technology and Design Hap Aziz said. "There is a myth that you have to pick one over the other, but the truth is that they can work hand-in-hand."

Each of Rasmussen College’s campuses is inviting a professional speaker to lead the discussion.

At the Brooklyn Park campus, Minneapolis Arts and Culture dynamic duo, Leslie Plesser and Margaret Andrews, will speak. Plesser is an art director and photographer, and Andrews is a web designer and photographer. The two together are the creative team behind Vita.mn’s print and online design. They will discuss the balance between making things look pretty and making sure it is organized in a clear way that enhances the usability of the product.

According to Aziz, a number of different people from different professions may find an interest in the lecture series including web designers, marketers, commercial designers, architects, technology professionals, interior designers, and artists.

Last month’s lecture series was sponsored by the Schools of Allied Health and Nursing and was about being proactive about one’s health.
