CHICAGO (IL)- Following its expansion in June 2006 into Illinois, Rasmussen College is proud to announce that it has now expanded into North Dakota and Florida with the granting of its request to merge Aakers College and Webster College by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

The decision from the HLC grants regional accreditation, the highest accreditation a school can achieve, to Aakers College and Webster College. Now, all eleven of the Rasmussen College, Inc. career colleges will carry the premier accreditation and continue the process of aligning the institutions.

President of Rasmussen College Kristi Waite commented on the expansion.

"Rasmussen College and its sister colleges are now a part of only 11 percent of career colleges that are regionally accredited," Waite said. "We have worked hard to provide a high quality of education and student services, and we are excited to be in the upper-echelon of colleges."

With this significant growth, Rasmussen College, Inc. now operates eleven campuses in Minnesota, Illinois, North Dakota, and Florida, including its nationwide online division-Rasmussen College Online.

"The opportunity to expand our organization into these new states is an exciting accomplishment," President Waite said. "We are now able to offer this high level of accreditation to students across the country, and our prospects for growth are immense. This is a great achievement for Rasmussen College."

In addition to its career colleges, Rasmussen College, Inc. operates Deltak Edu-a provider of online education resources to post-secondary institutions such as Utica College, Gonzaga University, and Loyola University New Orleans. Chief Executive Officer of Rasmussen College, Inc. Michael Locke commented on the opportunities the merger, the addition of regional accreditation, and the partnership of schools under Rasmussen College, Inc. provided.

"The growth of this organization gives our students boundless opportunities," Locke said. "Our students can come to a campus or get a degree online. They can begin with an Associate's degree and finish with a Master's. Students can earn a degree from a regionally accredited college while never leaving the comfort and convenience of their laptops. This merger represents new choices and freedoms for students that are consistent with changes in technology and education."
