Not only does the Early Childhood Education program at Rasmussen College boast a 100 percent in-field job placement rate, but now it is also backed by the $410 billion stimulus plan introduced by President Obama in February.

According to Eric J. Karola, Ph.D, and Executive Director of the Early Care and Education Consortium, the stimulus plan includes a $65 million increase for the Child Care and Development Block Grant, a $235 million increase for Head Start, and additional increases to other early childhood education initiatives (http://mail.ccie.com/go/eed/3205).

A March 26 article in the Child Care Exchange newsletter, Exchange Every Day, outlined the education initiative and stated that the President expressed a strong commitment to care and education programs, which includes an Early Learning Child Grant.

"The commitment to education by President Obama speaks volumes to the potential of education professionals," Director of the School of Education Cecilia Westby said. "Early childhood education professionals are able to contribute to the growth and stability of the country, and there is excellent career opportunity for these professionals."

Rasmussen College offers Early Childhood Education through three of its Minnesota campuses in Mankato, Moorhead, and St. Cloud. It is also offered through the Green Bay, Wis. campus. Just this month, Rasmussen extended the program to its three Florida campuses and began offering it completely online.

The Early Childhood Education degree at Rasmussen College prepares students to work in areas such as pre-schools, child care centers, school districts, child and family services, Head Start and in the classroom. Early Childhood Education is a degree within the School of Education at Rasmussen College.

Career placement assistance is also available to graduates. To date, 100 percent of the 97 graduates of the School of Education have been placed in careers in their field.
