Week of the Young Child to Begin April 19

Minneapolis (Minn.) — As part of Week of the Young Child, the Rasmussen College School of Education will honor young children and all the people who make a difference in their lives by hosting open house events April 19-25 at its seven Minnesota campuses.

Each open house will include an interactive reading activity and provide attendees with a make-it-take-it activity. Along with these interactive activities, attendees will have the opportunity to create a thank you card for a teacher that has made an impact in his or her life.

The dates and times for each Rasmussen College campus hosting the events are listed below:

  • Eagan Campus — Monday, April 20th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
  • Lake Elmo/Woodbury Campus — Tuesday, April 21st from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
  • Eden Prairie Campus — Wednesday, April 22nd from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
  • Brooklyn Park Campus — Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
  • Moorhead Campus — Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • St. Cloud Campus — Friday, April 23rd from 6:00-8:30 p.m.
  • Mankato Campus — Saturday, April 25th from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

The School of Education's Early Childhood Education program prepares students to become Early Childhood Professionals in careers including pre-school education, child care, and family care. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Early Childhood Education is projected to have exceptional growth in the future.

Preschool teachers are expected to have a 26 percent increase in employment growth nationwide, and a 17 percent increase in Minnesota alone through 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Week of the Young Child events are free and open to the public.
