Ft. Myers (Fla.) — As opportunities in Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, and Social Services continue to rise, Rasmussen College is inviting the community to attend its first Justice Studies Fair on Tuesday, March 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at its campus located at 9160 Forum Corporate Parkway in Ft. Myers.

Several public agencies from Lee County and surrounding areas will be at the fair to discuss career opportunities. Agencies in attendance will include the following: Lee County Sheriff's Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Fish and Wildlife Commission, Charlotte County Corrections, Department of Children and Families, Punta Gorda Police Department, and Crime Prevention Consultants.

In addition, the Lee County Sheriff's Department will feature a K-9 presentation.

Anyone who is interested in a Criminal Justice degree will have the opportunity to speak with these professionals, instructors from Rasmussen College, and Admissions Representatives. A Paralegal from Goldstein, Buckley, Czechman, Rice and Purtz, will also be available to speak with anyone interested in a Paralegal degree.

According the U.S. Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the criminal justice industry is expected to grow about as fast as average for all occupations through 2016. Increasing concerns about crimes and terrorism, contribute to the increasing demand for criminal justice professionals.

"As the unemployment rate continues to increase in Southwest Florida, people are looking for careers with stability and security," Rasmussen College School of Justice Studies Director CarieAnn Potenza said. "A degree in criminal justice can afford people the assurance of a long-lasting, in-demand career, and the opportunities are endless. Criminal Justice professionals can work in law enforcement, corrections, social services, and much more."

The Rasmussen College School of Justice Studies offers Bachelor's and Associate's degrees in Criminal Justice, including specializations in Corrections, Criminal Offenders, Homeland Security, Investigations and Law Enforcement. Rasmussen College also offers an Associate's degree and certification in Paralegal. All of the programs offered by the School of Justice Studies can be completed online or at the Ft. Myers campus.
