Green Bay (Wis.) — Two of Green Bay's top colleges are partnering to offer a Bachelor completer program and discounted tuition for criminal justice and accounting professionals.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College — a two year technical college — and Rasmussen College — a four year private college — have signed an agreement that will make it easier for many NWTC graduates to earn a Bachelor's degree in either Criminal Justice or Accounting.

The agreement covers two of NWTC's largest degree programs. About 114 students graduated from NWTC's Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement and Accounting programs in 2008. Those graduates can now transition smoothly into the Rasmussen Bachelor of Science degree, which can be earned online, allowing students to continue their education any time of day or night, from any computer with Internet access.

As a part of the new agreement, NWTC graduates who are accepted into the Rasmussen College Bachelor completer program will receive a 20 percent discount on tuition.

"We are excited to be partnering with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College," Rasmussen College — Green Bay, WI Campus Director Scott Borley said. "NWTC is a leader in our community, and we look forward to affording its graduates the opportunity of a Bachelor's degree that will help them to be successful and grow in their future careers."

Dr. H. Jeffrey Rafn, President of NWTC, said many students begin their education at NWTC and transfer the credits to other colleges. An October 2008 survey showed that 28 percent of NWTC's 2008 graduates chose NWTC so they could prepare for further education. Credit transfer is vital for students who may need to return to college multiple times to keep pace with technological and industry changes.

"We are pleased to enter into this partnership and provide additional opportunities for our students as they continue to pursue their education," Rafn said. "We really believe that collaboration among all of our educational institutions is essential to meet the educational needs of our community."
