Chicago (IL) - Rasmussen is unveiling a new corporate website that allows users to view up-to-the minute job postings for careers in the Rasmussen corporate division as well as through its subsidiaries--Rasmussen College and Deltak edu.
Port Richey, (FL) — Rasmussen College staff showed their community support for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Inc. by bowling a few strikes for a great cause.
The 27th Annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser kicked off March 1st at Lane Glo North in Port Richey. It’s the largest fundraiser for the non-profit organization, which provides mentors for children. The goal for each bowling team was to collect pledges and donations for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Teams then had the chance to celebrate at the bowling party.
This year, Rasmussen College and other local universities squared off in the 'Summa Cum Laude Challenge'. Not only did Rasmussen raise $500, they also won a trophy and bragging rights for the highest bowling score. The entire event netted more than $7,000 for the agency.
"A significant component of our mission is to serve our community," Rasmussen College Campus Director Claire Walker said. "Big Brothers Big Sisters is a vital organization to our community and to our youth, and supporting their efforts was not only important for us to do, but it was also fun."
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with measurable impact. It costs the agency $1,000 to pair a child with a caring mentor; that money pays for the background check, training, on-going support and supervision for one year. The money that was raised from the Pasco event, and three upcoming bowling events in Hillsborough and Polk Counties, will stay in the Tampa Bay area.
There is still a need in Pasco County for Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteers, especially in the West Pasco area. Spending time with a child just a few hours a month doing the little things -- fishing, washing the car, baking, or going to the beach -- can make a lasting impact in a child’s life.
