MANKATO (MINN.) — The Rasmussen College Mankato campus will host an event to allow Early Childhood Education professionals to work with Rasmussen College faculty and staff to learn about and apply Early Childhood Education concepts while gaining in-service hours. The event will take place on Saturday, February 21st, 2009 from 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Preschool teachers are expected to see a 26 percent increase in employment growth nationwide and a 17 percent increase in Minnesota alone through 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This event is one of the ways Rasmussen College prepares its graduates and others who are interested in developing curriculum for their Early Childhood Education classrooms.
The in-service is based on developmentally appropriate practices and every teacher in attendance will receive a certificate of participation. Early Childhood Educators in Minnesota must complete in-service hours in order to be licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The in-service portion of the event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
From 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Career Services department will explore the possible careers in Early Childhood Education.
The event is free and open to the public. People interested in a career in Early Childhood Education are encouraged to attend. Snacks, beverages, and door prizes will be provided.
Contact Kathy Clifford at (507) 625-6556 or by email at Kathy.Clifford@Rasmussen.edu for more information. Participants must RSVP by Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 as space is limited.
