MINNEAPOLIS ( Minn.) — While other job markets are suffering, the criminal justice field is in need of qualified professionals. The FBI alone is hiring more than 2,100 professional staff positions, according to the FBI’s website. Rasmussen College has made some adjustments to meet the hiring trends of such organizations in the field of criminal justice.
Matthew Petz, a Licensed Minnesota Police Officer for more than 13 years, is an experienced police hostage/crisis negotiator and considered an expert in the “suicide by cop” phenomenon; is the newest addition to the Rasmussen College staff.
Petz is the new Law Enforcement Coordinator for the Minnesota Professional Police Officer Education program at Rasmussen College. Petz’s experiences will help him prepare his students for the real world.
“Coming to Rasmussen College, I noticed they put a strong focus on course curriculum that students will use once they begin their career,” said Petz. “I am very passionate about law enforcement and am going to share as much as I can to prepare students for their future experiences in the field.”
Along with Petz’s responsibilities at Rasmussen College, he speaks regularly on a number of law enforcement topics. Petz recently served on an expert panel at the FBI Training on January 28, 2009, in St. Paul, Minn.
The Criminal Justice program at Rasmussen College is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to enter the justice field and begin a career. Students can earn an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree at the college or earn a Master’s degree from one of Rasmussen College’s affiliate schools.
