Adjunct / Part-Time Faculty

Rasmussen and its team understand that a strong academic foundation is integral to success. Our educational goal is to serve the long term needs of our students and the communities they serve while our organizational goal is to serve the long term objectives of our employees.

We are currently seeking dedicated professionals to add to our team of Adjunct Faculty. If you are a passionate and motivated individual who is interested in an innovative, team-oriented culture, we ask that you apply as per the below instructions. Positions are available in each of the six Programmatic Schools at our campuses in Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The Adjunct Faculty of Rasmussen

Adjunct faculty members are primarily responsible for teaching courses. As with all faculty, adjunct instructors are primarily accountable to their students’ campus Deans. They are indirectly accountable to the Director of the School for which they teach, the Director of the Virtual Center for Learning and Teaching, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

When hiring part-time faculty, Rasmussen College follows the requirements set by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, and the states in which its campuses operate.

Typical Tasks for Residential Courses:

  • Create course materials and incorporate a variety of teaching methods in courses
  • Keep syllabi current and in compliance with College requirements
  • Assess student learning through varying measurements (i.e. quizzes, tests, papers, group work, and/or presentations)
  • Demonstrate ability to teach and facilitate all levels of student capacity and performance, including instructional needs of developmental, average, and advanced students
  • Utilize wherever possible, methods which combine to make writing, communication, critical thinking, and general education concepts relevant across the curriculum
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge, development, and implementation of tests, examinations, and other forms of learning measurement appropriate to the course or field
  • Assist in providing academic and professional guidance for students
  • Be available for live office hours (in person or via online communication tools) each week.
  • Attend and complete new faculty orientation and training
  • Participate in College professional development programs, professional organizations, and curriculum review.

Additional Tasks for Online Courses:

  • Perform setup of online course sections prior to first day of term: Syllabus, Calendar, Discussion Forum, Announcement, and Course Mail
  • Meet or exceed Online Teaching Standards, including: daily login to online sections, respond to student email within 24 hours, provide substantial, engaged feedback on student work, respond to administrative contact within 24 hours
